The guilty room: 5 years' worth of accumulated 'stuff'
Two and a half days and 100+ charity sackloads later - a reclaimed spare room
The cellar had become a dumping ground where very little was accessible.
Half the items were donated, recycled or dumped and rest was organised into 'themed' sections. All in 5 hours!
Paperwork from the previous 9 months had been stuffed into 6 carrier bags.
A new, easy to maintain filing system after sorting, shredding and recycling. The client discovered she was insured twice over for the house and she'd been about to insure her car for a second time. Amount saved: £268; a further amount potentially saved: £310
A guest bedroom in the loft had become unusable.
Beautiful guest bedroom regained and unwanted items sold on eBay or donated to charity.
No space for the guest to sleep!
All ready for the guests' arrival
A leak in the loft had resulted in a mass of water coming through the kitchen ceiling and causing it to collapse
New ceiling plasterboard in place, water damaged units removed, room painted and boxes unpacked
The removal of an aga by the previous owner had left an ugly gap, an exposed flue and dangerous electrics.
We organised the plumber, the spark, the plasterer and the decorator. A fridge freezer fills the gap nicely.
Lounge after water damage to walls and original 1940s parquet floor.
After drying, plastering, painting and moving in. The floor looks beautiful after sanding, filling and treating the parquet wooden 'tiles'.
The chimney breast and the floor got a real soaking. We made use of a de-humidifier and heated the house well during the refurb.
A small water mark is showing through the paint on the chimney breast but all this will need is a dab of paint when completely dry. And it certainly didn't prevent them moving in by the deadline!
The previous owner had made a start on the shower-room ......
The electrician made the shower safe & the plasterer and decorator did their bit. With a set of shelves and some accessories we got it ready for a photo shoot for Elle Decoration (not really).
The removal of an old airing cupboard had left the walls damaged
The wall was skim plastered and the pipes and walls painted
